My own little experience with To Kill A Mockingbird

Dear Readers,

When I first picked up To Kill A Mockingbird (which was before I even knew we had to read it for the summer assignment) I bored of it, VERY quickly. So I put it down. When I started reading it for the summer assignment I trudged through the first few pages and it started to get more interesting. by the second chapter I was hooked. The story was becoming much clearer to me and characters had been introduced. At that point I wanted to learn what their contribution to the story and what kind of characters they would turn out to be.

When I read this blog prompt the first thing that I thought of as my own theme and connection to this book was the unknown. I have always wondered what will happen in life and what will happen to me. Another idea that piggy backs on this is learning, and learning about all of the unknown things in my life. In To Kill A Mockingbird Scout learns many things, for instance how racist her town actually is and that not every body is like her and have the same values as her. I have learned so many things and have so much more to learn. I learned that school is not scary and that there are certain times to be serious and certain times to be joyful. But Just like Scout I have kept my free spirit and just added on knowledge.

Scout has also been through the unknown. She had no idea that the Tom Robinson case would effect her and her brothers life not only mentally, but physically as well. I still deal heavily with the unknown and am always wondering what will happen next. Scout isn't always as aware of the future as I am but she learned that it is a good thing to know what will be in the future or at least expect that something is bound to happen at some point.

Love,
Amaya

  2. I like how your writing is really easy to read, how it flows. I also thought your transition of "another idea that piggy backs..." was a new one that you don't really see on the lists teachers give you. I loved it!
